The aim of the GWO Enhanced First Aid (EFA) Training is to enable participants to support and care for others working in the wind industry, and to provide ongoing first aid to an ill or injured casualty over a short period of time while awaiting professional emergency medical response.
COURSE OBJECTIVES
After successfully completing the GWO Enhanced First Aid (EFA) module, participants will be able to take responsibility for administering safe, effective, and immediate lifesaving and enhanced first aid in emergency situations, particularly in wind turbine generator (WTG) environments — both onshore and offshore.
Participants will also gain the skills to:
- Independently assess and stabilize casualties using advanced first aid techniques and lifesaving equipment specific to remote environments.
- Provide continued care while awaiting professional emergency medical assistance.
- Apply structured procedures such as the Primary and Secondary Survey (C-A-B-C-D-E), aligned with GWO training standards.
- Use telemedical consultation tools effectively to communicate with emergency services and receive expert medical guidance when isolated from direct professional care.
This course prepares individuals to act with confidence in high-risk, isolated settings where rapid medical intervention may be delayed, and where enhanced first aid response can significantly affect outcomes.
WHO SHOULD TAKE THE TARGET GWO ENHANCED FIRST AID TRAINING AUDIENCE?
The GWO Enhanced First Aid training is designed for personnel working in the wind energy sector or related fields who are designated by their employer to perform enhanced first aid responsibilities in wind turbine environments — onshore or offshore.
This includes:
- Wind turbine technicians, supervisors, and team leads operating in remote or offshore wind farms.
- Workers with roles in operations, maintenance, or construction who may be first responders in emergency situations.
- Individuals expected to provide prolonged care in isolated environments where professional emergency medical response may be delayed.
- Personnel who require GWO-compliant training to meet employer safety policies or regulatory expectations within the wind industry.
The course enables participants to respond effectively to common medical emergencies in wind environments, such as trauma, circulatory disorders, impaired consciousness, airway compromise, and other life-threatening conditions.
