STCW BASIC SAFETY TRAINING REFRESHER COURSE OBJECTIVES:
The objective of the STCW Basic Safety Training – Refresher Course (SOLAS compliant) is to reinforce and update the core safety competencies required for all professional seafarers, in accordance with the STCW Convention and SOLAS (Safety of Life at Sea) regulations. The course ensures participants remain proficient in essential maritime safety procedures and meet the mandatory five-year certification renewal requirements outlined in STCW codes A-VI/1-1 through A-VI/1-4.
STCW BASIC SAFETY TRAINING REFRESHER COURSE CONTENT:
The refresher course covers the following STCW modules:
- Proficiency in Personal Survival Techniques (Table A-VI/1-1)
- Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting (Table A-VI/1-2)
- Elementary First Aid (Table A-VI/1-3)
- Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities (Table A-VI/1-4)
Each module is designed to refresh both practical skills and theoretical understanding, ensuring readiness to respond effectively to onboard emergencies in accordance with SOLAS safety standards.
Target Audience:
This refresher training is mandatory for all seafarers who have previously completed the full STCW Basic Safety Training and are required to update their certification every five years, in line with international maritime safety and SOLAS compliance requirements.

| Course Participant Prerequisites: The course participants shall be medically fit, appear well-rested and be capable of fully participating showing no signs of fatigue, substance abuse or sickness. You must have completed the ‘Basic Safety Training’ course program according to the STCW Code A-VI/1-1, A-VI/1-2, A-VI/1-3, and A-VI/1-4 meet the relevant standards. Additionally, you need to demonstrate at least three months of sea service within the last five years. | |
