Practical High Voltage training for wind industry professionals. The GWO High Voltage Operations (HVOP) course is designed for experienced electrical personnel who need to develop the knowledge, practical skills and safety discipline required to work with High Voltage systems in the wind industry.
The course combines technical understanding with hands-on, scenario-based training in switching, isolation, earthing, voltage verification, documentation, communication and safe control during HV testing.
On completion of training, trainees will have sufficient knowledge and understanding to enable them to:
Understand the functional, operational, and safety requirements for high voltage systems
Take appropriate remedial action during system faults
Develop a switching strategy for isolating HV system components
Select and use suitable apparatus for isolation and testing of HV equipment
Execute a switching and isolation procedure, supported by complete safety documentation
Understand wind turbine power generation and converter protection systems
Wind farm HV systems and equipment
Circuit breakers, disconnectors and earth switches
Single Line Diagrams (SLDs)
HV hazards, risks and control measures
The Five Safety Rules
Safe System of Work (SSOW)
HV roles and responsibilities
HV tools and PPE
Switching operations and switching instructions
Verification of absence of voltage
Prove–Test–Prove / Hot–Cold–Hot
